Over  the past 2 years, the CSUEU Board of Directors has been actively seeking access to full and accurate financial records. Unfortunately, those records have not been made available to any of the CSUEU Board members outside of the former President, Catherine Hutchinson, and the former Vice President of Finance, Terry Wilson.

The refusal to provide accurate, current, and full financial information to the CSUEU Board of Directors – who are the direct representatives of our members – was a primary factor in the Board’s decision to issue a letter of no confidence in June 2026 to Catherine Hutchinson and to Terry Wilson, and a primary factor in the vote to remove them from office.

Currently, both Catherine Hutchinson and Terry Wilson have refused to recognize the legitimacy of their removal from office and are refusing to relinquish financial control of the organization. Through their continued misframing of facts they convinced the Board of Directors to vote to pull back access to CSUEU funds by CSEA. Sadly, this has resulted in halting the monthly deposits of chapter dues to the 23 CSUEU chapter accounts. This   action is putting a strain on the relationship between  CSUEU and the California State Employees Association (CSEA), the state association that has contractually served as our financial warehouse and accounts payable agent for more than 30 years.

At the most recent board meeting on Saturday, August 8, the Board of Directors met in closed session with representatives from the CSEA and received information regarding questionable financial practices that have been put in place by the displaced President and Vice President of Finance.

The Board of Directors has now formally requested a full and complete accounting from CSEA while  continuing to seek that same information from the former Vice President of Finance. Upon receipt of this information and documentation, a full and complete independent audit will be commissioned. Once this audit is complete, the results will be shared with all CSUEU members.
